Dead Tree

In the tenth year of the wolves being introduced here, this tree, a fir tree died. Though it does not actually hold an interesting history this tree is often a place where packless wolves come to try to join a pack. Hopefully those who are looking for an alpha find one in a descent time.

Burned Forest

Recently on the island there was a powerful storm that came through and lightening stuck setting fire to the Center forest and the areas around it. The fire burned everything in its path destroying every twig and tree. In the end, the forest was destroyed and some of the outlying areas were effected but not damaged completely. The forest has been abandoned by any pack due to the lack of cover and prey. Here and there, there are parts of the forest area that seem to be growing but it’ll be years before it becomes anything.

Brittle Grasslands

These grasslands regardless of the weather are often too dry and when they are not things do not seem to grow. The grass here is shorter then most offering little to eat for prey so rarely are they found grazing. More times then not a wolf might be lucky to find a thin rabbit or field mouse.

Rocky Outcrop

Near the brittle grasslands there is a large hill with a very rocky outcrop which offers a good view of the lands and of the sunset. The ground is almost sandy here making it a poor choice for den sites; however, one can often find small rodents and birds among the rocks. Might be worth a shot if you have to hunt here.

Maple Wood

This small wood is located on the northern edge of the island. For the most part is a young forest filled with maples. The ground is covered in small bushes fulled with berries others nothing more then thorny bushes. Ferns also dot the area along with a thin layer of fallen leaves. Rabbits and quail are often seen here among some other smaller animals.

Seaside Cliff

Overlooking the sea, this cliff is massive and very flat before dropping off abruptly to the rocks below, a wolf would never want to fall from there. On the flat area of the cliff itself are a mixture of thistles and thorn brushes, and is often a home for many rabbits and another small creatures. Once and a while a small herd of deer can be seen here. The area could also be a good place for a den site.

Sandy Beach

This beach can be reached via a path leading down from the seaside cliff, which is rather steep so tread lightly. The beach itself is one of pure white sand mingled with small rocks. The water is often rather cold; however, is sometimes a great place to find small fish, crabs and sometimes lobsters.

Salmon River

This River runs through a large portion of the island but is most easily accessible at this point with its low banks. It is here, in this river, which salmon often run to in their breeding season as it is free of pollution. During that time a wolf can easily get itself an easy meal without worry as the island lacks bears. Off season the river still has fish of different sizes and is a great place for swimming in the areas where the current is not as swift.

Underground Cave

Beneath a very large stone there is a narrow pathway that leads down into a large cave. The ceiling is slightly on the low side, however, the floor is smooth as is the walls for the most part, making it very easy to walk around in. The cave is often warm due to several hot springs.

Cattail Pond

This little pond is nearly smack dab in the middle of the southern lands of the island. It gets its name from the numerous cattails that surround its banks. Rarely does this pond completely freeze in the winter and its always teeming with fish of various sizes. One might also see a good sized bull-frog resting on a lily-pad or perhaps even several colorful dragonfly milling about.

Wildflower Meadow

This meadow is filled with all sorts of wildflowers that vary from reds and blues to pinks and oranges which bloom throughout the summer and into the early fall. Here the grass barely reaches one’s belly but it sways in the wild calmly as ever. Small rabbits and even some deer and elk come here to graze throughout the year and have their little ones in the spring.

Grassy Hillside

This hillside provides one with a high up location for watching for threats or merely to smell what’s going on in the world. The grass the hillside is covered in is very soft and is mixed here and there with small flowers with a very sweet scent. Often when threats are not a problem this hill is often a great place for a wolf to be alone with their thoughts.

Marshlands

The marshlands sit just off the coast of the island; in fact, they are only a short swim away. Here the ground is boggy and wet; most of the trees are waterlogged and half dying. Though it is treacherous for the unwary different manner of swamp creatures can be found here. Hunt here at your own risk and be sure to tread carefully.

Young Forest

Just as the name states this forest is very young. In fact, many of the trees are barely over a wolf’s head. This place is often a good place for hunting as deer and elk often reside here due to the cover created by the young trees and the brush around them. Could also be a good place to find rabbits and other small prey.

Small Valley

Just east of the young wood there is a small valley that is filled with short grass. Once and a while, prey of varying sizes can be found here. There are also several small caves in the area, all of which could make great dens or even storage caves.

Pine Wood

This forest is just that a forest of pines, it is the oldest forest on the island making it great for summer shade or even a good wind break in the winter months. The ground here is for the most part free of vegetation with the exception of all the pine needles.

White Waterfall

These falls are located along the Salmon River. Though the falls are rather small, they can be rather loud coating the whole area in a mist. Small fish tend to all the pool home.

Tall Grasslands

Located along the Pine Wood and the Salmon River is the tall grasslands. Here large and small game can be found. It is also a place where many of the deer and elk come to bed down for the night due to the tall grass.
